what is it for:
crowdomatic places a crowd of objects (crowd-objects) along a target-path (shape) and if desired all over the document too.

how to use: step 1: select "crowdomatic_0.2.js" in scriptgrapher and press the play button. a dialog appears.

step 2: draw a shape you want to be crowded then click "assign shape(s)" from the dialog

step 3: draw the objects you want to be your crowd / crowd-object(s) (these can be simple shapes or also groups... even textobjects work to some point) then select all the crowd objects and click assign "crowd-object(s)" from the dialog

step 4: tune the values in the dialog to your liking (try and error, pls)

step 5: click "do it" and enjoy the result or undo to change the values and try again. note, you don't have to reassign the shape or the crowd-objects unless you removed any of the crowd-objects.

-> for additonal information read the descripton inside the scriptfile!

known bugs:
- strange behaviour on cs2 with scales larger than 2000%

Hello, I use AI 11.0 and SG 2. when I follow instructions I only have a blank console window when I hit "play" button at step 1.

This script seems to be great !

hey jean, sorry to hear it doesn't work with you.
it has been tested on the following machines:

illustrator cs2, osx 10.4.11, with the newest scriptographer (2.0.025)
illustrator cs3, osx 10.4.11, scriptographer (2.0.025)
illustrator cs2, winxp, scriptographer (2.0.025)
illustrator cs3, winxp, scriptographer (2.0.025)

i don't have cs (AI 11.0 ?) around to test, sorry.
did you update to the newest scriptographer you can get for AI 11.0 / cs ?

Forgive me :D It works :D

Indded, I use illustrator cs1, winxp, scriptographer (2.0.025)

The script did not appears into the window even I played with the refresh button, so I opened the file and did a copy/paste into a new script. (I should do something wrong the first time)

I'll test it and give u feedback. Thank you a lot :D

Pedro (gs ?) Thank you verry much for this script. I've played with it and it is amazing ! It remind me some feature in Freehand that the symbol tool of Illustrator does not allow. This script is in my top 5, have a nice day :D

Ugh, it worked a few times, then I tried using text as the shape and a different text as the object and broke it. :)

It was nice while it lasted.

Edit: It is a "cannot find curvestopoint" error.

Edit2: Nevermind. It was because the shape object I selected (the text) wasn't broken down into an outline (right click, outline).

It's great again. ^_^
