Together with
Alex I might have found a possible fix for all the people unable to start Illustrator with Scriptographer installed.

During the process of preparing his machine for a remote debug session he created a new user without administrator privileges for me to log in as, and when running Illustrator under this user it all of a sudden worked. And even after going back to his old account, it still worked. Magic!

So this is the proposed procedure now:

- Start System Preferences
- Select Accounts
- Create a new temporary User wihtout administrator privileges
- Log out
- Log in as the new User
- Start Illustrator. It should magically work
- Go back to the old account
- Check if Illustrator still works
- Remove the temporary account through System Preferences

Please report if this procedure does or does not work for you.

Let's hope for the best.

I can start Illustrator in all other user accounts except the admin one. It seems to crash when loading plug-ins.

Did NOT work

But does the Scriptographer plugin load in the other accounts?

Could you try removing these files and see if that helps?

Library/Preferences/com.apple.java.util.prefs.plist
Library/Preferences/com.scriptographer.adm.plist

All of above was happened to me at one time or another in the last 6 months (don't know if QuickTime update related or not). One remedy I have found for the crash once it is open -- check the Preferences Plug-Ins and Scratch Disks to be sure that it is not trying to use "Startup" as the Primary Scratch Disk, but select your Macintosh HD. Once that is changed, you must quit Illustrator and restart, then it works fine (but I have to do this each new day after shutting down).
