These instructions explain the steps to install Scriptographer on Mac and PC.

1. Make sure a Java Runtime Environment (JRE) is installed on your system. MacOS X already includes Java out of the box. On Windows, you need to make sure a JRE is installed. If there is none, download Java SE 5.0 from http://java.sun.com/ or a similar JRE and install it first.

Mac users please note that at the moment, Scriptographer only runs on native PowerPC Macs, not the new Intel ones, as Rosetta cannot run Java inside emulated applications.

2. Download the Scriptographer plugin here.

3. Unzip the downloaded Scriptographer archive and place the whole Scriptographer folder in Illustrator's Plug-ins directory.



4. Start Illustrator. You should now see a new entry in the Window menu, that opens the main Scriptographer palette window.



5. Optionally, you can move the scripts folder from the Scriptographer folder to a different location, e.g. where you keep the personal documents. After you moved the folder, click on the arrow in top right corner of the palette window, then select "Set Script Directory".



6. Now you're all set. You may want to read further about how to use the included scripts now.
